Joan Irvine-Smith

The generosity of Joan Irvine Smith, through the Joan Irvine Smith & Athalie R. Clarke Foundation, was instrumental in founding the Reeve-Irvine Research Center at UCI.

History

1996 - The Reeve-Irvine Research Center (RIRC) is launched! Mrs. Joan-Irvine Smith provides $1 million to start a spinal cord injury (SCI) research center and invites Christopher Reeve to participate;
