Reeve-Irvine Research Center FOR-SCI Contract

Reeve-Irvine Research Center (RIRC) is one of three national Facilities of Research in Spinal Cord Injury (FOR-SCI). Sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), each FOR-SCI is contracted to address key issues in spinal cord injury research that were not being adequately addressed.

The RIRC's contracts provide funding, totaling $2.6 million over 5 years, for two major projects: 1) to replicate promising studies that point the way toward therapies; and 2) to develop new methods for assessing functional recovery in experimental animals.

Other FOR-SCI:

Miami project is contracted to undertake replication studies focusing on acute therapies and the Ohio State University has an educational contract to hold a short course in SCI techniques.
