Training Opporunities

Course participants became part of a network and support system. They forged bonds with fellow classmates and instructors. They have the opportunity to meet and know top researchers in the field. In the future, when they have questions on anything from what is the appropriate animal model to which behavioral assessment should be used to how to find funding for a specific project, they have a group of experts and compatriots to turn to for advice.

In addition to interacting with distinguished guest lecturers during seminars and lunch, students also are given the opportunity to get to know the speakers on a more personal level and have real face time with them. On most nights, students go out to dinner with the speakers, and so are able to go into detail about their interests and research. Dinner is very informal, and we have found that being out of the lab and lecture hall encourages more personal discussions and the small group atmosphere makes it easy for students to ask questions more personally relevant and detailed than is appropriate in a lecture session.
